Avion Takes Action: Fall Grant Recipients Announced

Avion employee-owners have once again demonstrated the power of collective generosity through the Avion Takes Action Fall Grant Cycle. After thoughtful review and voting, eight local nonprofits were selected to receive $5,000 grants—each one chosen by our employee-owners to support meaningful work in our community.

This fall, Avion’s giving will help ensure neighbors across North Alabama have the care and stability they deserve. ENABLE will use its grant to purchase and install durable medical equipment in the homes of elderly residents throughout Huntsville and Madison County, helping them live safely and independently for as long as possible. Similarly, Grandparents as Parents will create a safe and welcoming space for the grandfamilies they serve by furnishing and equipping their new One-Stop Shop with comfort items, child-friendly amenities, and the resources needed for workshops and support groups.

Our commitment to children’s health and wellness continues through HEALS, where the grant will support the dental clinic at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School. These funds will help update equipment, enhance technology, and sustain the dental professionals who provide essential care to local students. In the same spirit of healing, Kids to Love will strengthen its Mental Wellness program, which offers trauma-informed therapies for foster children and their caregivers. The Morgan County Child Advocacy Center will also extend critical support to children and families by providing specialized Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to those recovering from abuse.

Meeting basic needs remains at the heart of Avion’s giving. The Rose of Sharon Soup Kitchen will continue serving daily meals to those in need, using its grant to cover essential kitchen costs such as food, utilities, and staff salaries. Sleep in Heavenly Peace will purchase materials to build and deliver 15 beds to local children who don’t currently have one of their own, ensuring every child can rest safely and comfortably. And at The CARE Center, the Bags of Blessings program will provide weekend meals for food-insecure children, offering nourishment and peace of mind to families facing difficult times.

Through these eight grants, Avion’s employee-owners are helping build a stronger, more compassionate community where children have beds to sleep in, seniors can stay safely at home, and families can access the care and support they need to thrive.
