Avion Solutions’ employee-led giving fund, Avion Takes Action, has awarded $20,000 in grants to four local non-profits: Alabama Kidney Foundation, The Caring House Huntsville Hospital Foundation, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, and United Cerebral Palsy of Huntsville & Tennessee Valley.
The Alabama Kidney Foundation, which provides direct financial assistance, education, and support services to assist low-income kidney patients, will use the $5,000 grant to support the daily living and transportation needs of dialysis patients in Madison County and surrounding areas. The Caring House, which provides a safe space for children and their families to cope with the death of a loved one, will use the grant to sponsor 29 children for group therapy and summer grief camp, putting each of these children on a path toward healing. Sleep in Heavenly Peace seeks to improve the quality of life for children who do not have a bed of their own. With the grant, the organization will purchase materials to build and donate 18 beds, mattresses, and bedding to local children without beds. Finally, United Cerebral Palsy, whose mission is to help children with disabilities and support their families, will use the $5,000 grant to provide services for low-income families by covering insurance gaps for recommended treatments, as determined by UCP’s pediatric outpatient therapy program.
Funded entirely by employee contributions, Avion Takes Action supports non-profit organizations in the local communities of Avion’s Employee Owners. The fund accepts grant applications on a rolling basis throughout the year and makes awards each quarter.
