Avion Awarded Position on MDA SHIELD IDIQ Contract

Huntsville, Ala. — Avion has been awarded a position on the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) Indefinite-Delivery/Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract. With a total ceiling value of $151 billion SHIELD supports rapid execution of missile defense research, development, and experimentation efforts across the Department of Defense.

The SHIELD IDIQ is designed to enable rapid prototyping, testing, integration, and deployment of advanced missile defense technologies. The contract encompasses 19 broad scope areas, including science and technology, research and development, prototyping, experimentation, modeling and simulation, systems engineering, weapon design and development, integration, production, test and evaluation, operations and sustainment, cybersecurity, data analysis, facilities engineering, and modernization.

Work performed under SHIELD supports a layered homeland defense architecture integrating sensors, command-and-control systems, and interceptors across land, sea, air, and space domains.

This award strengthens Avion’s role as a small business in supporting the Missile Defense Agency mission to address evolving missile threats through technically rigorous, agile, and scalable solutions.
